Hello all,
Just a super quick update: Now that GNO is over, I am hoping to get some more new paintings knocked out so I will have some new ones to show off, and I'm trying my hand at learning how to do watercolors. I didn't have the best first experience with them initially, but then again, I was only like 10. I really want to learn, so pray people, pray. Keep checking back regularly for new stuff!

Quote of the day!
"Remember He is the artist and you are only the picture. You can't see it. So quietly submit to be painted." - C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis is my favorite. I love his quotes and I love the way he thought. Since this quote is talking about painting, I figured it was appropriate for my blog! :)
Have a great day!

Remembering "Mardi Gras"
Hello everyone! Unfortunately, the painting I am featuring today is no longer with us. (I know, you're thinking, "dang Jess. Why the heck would you even show it?") It's a bittersweet thing, because "Mardi Gras" as I so lovingly had named it, was the first painting I have ever sold. It is now living in a sweet lady's home from Little Rock. She purchased it last summer from our Hello Ladies table at the Little Rock River Market. -For those of you who don't know, Hello Ladies is a crafting/handmade stuff business I am a part of founding with my best good friends!- Wanna check us out?? Here ya go: http://thehelloladies.blogspot.com/. We have some really cool stuff!
Anyway, I wanted to honor this painting, as it is the first piece of art I have ever sold, and it was kind of the springboard that got me back into art! I am considering painting a similar painting soon. (The picture above is from my cell phone, and it doesn't do it justice. The colours are very vibrant, but you get the idea.) If you would be interested in a painting like this, please email me: foxfirehalo@gmail.com. I'm always willing to make custom art for anyone! Have a great day!

Artist Spotlight: Soon Y. Warren
A little over a year ago, we went to visit some friends in Grandbury, TX. While there, a group of us went to a small downtown area to sample the cute shops and local foods. I stopped in a local art exhibit/store, as I always do, just to see what the local artists have to offer. While in there, I discovered the most incredible watercolors I have ever seen in my life. I asked the lady in the store and she said, "Oh yeah, she's a local artist. Her name is Soon Y. Warren. Isn't she great??"
Um, understatement of the year! The way she captures crystal looks like a photograph! I've not seen artists capture crystal that well with acrylic, oil, or even pencils, FORGET about watercolors! And her grasp of light and shadow??? A-MAZING.
And, what's even more incredible, (and what I LOVE about her), is that she does tutorials at the local Hobby Lobby in Fort Worth! Talk about staying true to your roots! She has been talked about in international magazines and art catalogues and she still teaches us little people! I plan on one day going to one of her classes! If you've never heard of her, she is totally worth checking into. Here's a link to her website: http://www.soonwarren.com/. I promise you won't be disappointed...
Here's to you Soon!

Hello World!
Well, welcome to my new art blog! I am so excited! This is actually the first technological step I have taken toward my business. Of course, I am working all of the kinks out, and I am sure there will be some adjustments along the way, but I am moving forward with what I feel is a calling on my life, and that is making things pretty! :) That being said, here are my first postings:
This acrylic piece is entitled "Cattails" and is a stretched canvas size 16"x 20"
This acrylic piece is entitled "Black & Blue" and is also a stretched canvas size 16"x 20"
These are both available for purchase, and if you happen to be interested in them, please email me at foxfirehalo@gmail.com for pricing or details about the painting. I look forward to looking back on this first post a year from now and seeing how far I've come! Thanks for checking me out, and please check back often to see what new pieces I post! <3
